This textile work explores my experience of living with a dissociative disorder. Using the traditional patchwork technique of English Paper Piecing, shapes are formed by sewing the cotton over the paper and tacking it down. Each colour represents a different part and the papers used depict aspects of that part. The work is displayed at an angle from the wall so the rear can be viewed.
This work was made as part of an Exhibition at the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading. Considering their collection and a theme of absence, this work considers how stories within museums maybe missing the voices and stories of hidden communities and how some narratives have been lost for ever.
