This is the capital of Malaysia with a population of 1.6 million people. It is not a large city and is easy to get around by monorail or the rapid transport system. The skyline is dominated by two buildings, the Petronas Twin Towers and the Menara Kuala Lumpur, a communication and observation tower, which enable you to orientate yourself as you travel around the city. The city is quiet young only really being developed since the 1860s. During our stay we saw parts of the older quarters of the city as well as both towers and the shopping malls!

Central Market , this was the city's old wet market but has now been converted
into an arts and craft market aimed mainly at tourists.

On the upper level one of the shops is displaying traditional kites.

Snack anyone?

Walking towards one of the main shopping areas, the monorail runs over the centre of the road.
