During the weekend we stayed in the Lake Palace Hotel. The building is also know as the Jag Niwas and was built between 1734 and 1751 as a Royal summer retreat. It was built by a Prince of the Royal House after is Father stopped him using the Jag Mandir, another summer base on the Lake for his parties. The building is constructed of white marble. While many of the arches are now filled with glass to form windows, originally they would have been open to allow the Lake breeze to cross through the Palace. To reach the hotel small launches are used to ferry you back and forth from a jetty behind the City Palace. From the Hotel the City Palace gives an amazing back drop whilst in the other direction are the Aravalli Hills.
