So we had to head back to Leh, along the same road as before but a few more photo opportunities. This gang were working on the road a short way from Chang La. The workers are probably migrants from somewhere like Bihar, a state south of the Himalayas, that is one of the poorest in India. Despite the harsh conditions working here, it is probably worth it for the summer months for the relatively high wages that they would get for the job.
