Home Indian Trips <<Previous Ladakh Next>>
While we were in Ladakh the monastery of Hemis had its annual festival. To ensure seats at the festival our party left Leh at 7am in the morning, unfortunately I was not feeling too well that morning so I did not go along, but these photographs from Corrine give a taste of what the festival was like. It was apparently well attended by locals as well as tourists. The festival consists of many old dances and music. The monks use masks and costumes to represent various characters in the retelling of religious stories.
