Home Indian Trips << Previous Kerala Next >>
As we travelled on the Backwaters we first crossed the lake and then entered the canals and waterways, passing open water and then rice fields, gradually encountering more people and more densely built up areas. At first there were just the odd houses then eventually whole villages built alongside the canals, including shops, Churches, Temples and schools. The pictures below reflect some of the different domestic properties we saw.
Though
no houses here, there is evidence of man with the electricity pylons stretching
across the waters. It also shows how open the early areas were.
Some
of the first properties we saw had seen better days.
A
couple of properties built with traditional materials including palm
leaves. Also note the interesting electrical connections.

As
we progress houses became more substantial, larger and came with all mod-cons.
And
new places are still being built.
