The next village that we visited is called Dhords, where again we saw some embroidery but the lady we visited was also married to a Master mud worker. Within their house they had some of the most delicate mudwork that we saw during our travels.
The
outside of the hut did not hint at the work that we would see inside.

The window is surrounded by some very fine mudwork.

In most of the houses we visited there would be a stack of quilts with one laid over them as shown left. Quilts and the highly embroidered blouses that the ladies wear form part of the dowries of young women in the region. A mother will try to provide 15-20 blouses for her daughter at marriage. Girls start sewing at a young age to develop the skills and contributing to their dowry.
This
house also had a set of decorated cases and on the left a stack of traditional
water vessels.
