Home Indian Trips <<Previous Deccan Odyssey Next>>
This tour is run by the Maharashtra Tourism Board and is a one week long journey through the states of Maharashtra and Goa. The journey starts and end in Mumbai, but you can also board or leave the train at Goa. We decided to join the train at Goa and from comments made by other passengers who did the whole trip, this seemed to be quite a good choice.

We boarded the train at Margo Station in Goa, on Wednesday afternoon and then made the following stops.
Thursday: Kolhapur and Pune
Friday: Daulatabad, Ellora Caves and Aurangabad
Saturday:Jalgon, Ajanta Caves and Nasik
Sunday: Mumbai
Though we visited Pune it was already after dark so we had no photographs. We visited a museum which housed the personal collection of an Indian collector who had spent his life gathering a huge variety of everyday artefacts from around the country. It now forms a fascinating record of Indian life.
The
Engine that did all the work.
Just
part of the train in a station, there were about 20 carriages in all.

On the move around a bend.
Other
trains were not so comfortable as ours.
