On our first full day in Darjeeling we took a walk from the hotel to Observatory Hill at the other end of town and then towards the edge of the town and North Point before coming back along a lower road and the hustle and bustle of the town centre. We then moved on to the Railway Station before a stop for lunch and afternoon tea.
The first main stop was Chrowastra which is in the upper centre of the town. It is a large open area ringed by shops and seemed to be a general congregation area of many people. There was also the opportunity to have a horse ride here. In the hill stations this seems to be a popular activity a bit like donkey rides as the British seaside.
