Home Indian Trips << Previous Darjeeling Next >>
One morning we took the tourist train from Darjeeling to Ghum and back. This was pulled by a steam engine. Though there is a timetable it could be described as relaxed. We left about half an hour late and were delayed en-route as a chain from the engine got caught in the track. It took some time to release and as we were part way across the road at the time created a substantial traffic jam too. This is not untypical for the line and few trains arrive on schedule, but don't expect compensation its just considered part of the charm of the route.
These are some pictures taken on our journey.
