Sunrise at Tiger Hill

This is one of those things that is almost obligatory to do when visiting somewhere as a tourist.  The staff in the Cookies Tea Store had told us that if you could see the stars at night then you would see the sunrise the following morning.  So having spotted stars we booked ourselves up for a 3.30am call to get to Tiger Hill in time for the sunrise.  We weren't the only ones it was very busy there, but we had made good time and got a good spot for photographs on the second floor of the observatory building near the windows.  The tea staff were also right and we were in luck with the weather and saw the sun come up.  The next page gives some more information on the site but here is the sunrise.

It is very hard to do it justice, as dawn started the colours in the sky kept changing until sunrise came and then it was the turn of the mountains catching the orangey-pink rays of the sun on the snowcaps.  When the sun did come up there was also a cheer from the crowd, which added to the sense of occasion.
