Some
of the shops were no more than wooden huts, the shop keepers often sitting in
amongst their goods.
The
most common vehicles were jeeps and Maruti vans, which are capable of handling
the mountain roads. Many of the jeeps seemed completely over loaded with
people and baggage. They also seemed to operate as taxi/buses taking a
trip up or down the hill and picking up people on the way.
This is also the land of the Sherpa and we saw men carrying all sorts of things on their backs, like planks of wood (left), wardrobes, up to three boxed televisions in one case, as well as filled baskets and suitcases.
