As we progressed further we did literally pass through clouds, but of course that does not make a very good picture. We did though also pass through a number of small villages and towns on our way.

Some of the properties built along the hillside.
The
train crosses right across the main road with shops and market stalls on both
sides. At times the train is close enough to take goods from the stalls.

We also passed the down train from Darjeeling along the way.

On
arrival we discovered that the packets of crisps that we had brought in Siliguri
had inflated due to the changes in atmospheric pressure.
