This is a centre for the study and conservation of crocodiles, otherwise called The Centre of Herpetology. While mainly a research centre is was also open to the public as part of its educational activity. Many crocodiles indigenous to India and other countries are kept there. Most of the time the reptiles were seemed to spend there time lying about with their mouths open, this is thought to be a means of heat regulation. Only occasionally was any movement seen. Apparently whilst people need about 2000 calories a day, crocodiles need only around 190, not many at all.
Main
pathway through the Centre
Some
of the areas had very large numbers of crocodiles all together. They
appeared to be quite social.
They are known as Mugger or Marsh Crocodiles

The crocodile in the centre is moving out of the water, you can see the sand fall off from his front foot.
